It is well-documented that POS materials assist sales and create interest in stores but they can also be problematical and so require much thought and planning. G.I.L. has designed a multi-coloured display unit that beautifully promotes the image of Spaziale Splendy and is at the same time easy to use and take care of. The unit was first produced in 2009 and has been tested extensively for promotional periods in selecte
d stores all over Italy. It has been seen that when this sales unit is placed in the store window, sales have increased by 20% and no problems with its use have been noted. The way is works is simple: there are one hundred or so of these units throughout Italy which can be requested by individual retailers, through their local Spaziale Splendy representative, for a period of 3-4 weeks. The unit, which contains 14 different coloured Classic bathrobes, is then shipped to the retailer, who sets it up and uses it for the designated period, re-packing it into the same packaging and returning it via the same courier afterwards. Notwithstanding G.I.L’s vast TV, magazine and newspaper advertising campaign, this system of point-of-sale display is strongly recommended as an extremely valid sales tool.
In addition to the information labels on every Spaziale Splendy product, a new ticket can now be found in the packaging. The international Oeko-Tex Standard 100 label certifies that that the product has undergone a globally uniform testing system and is free of toxic sub
stances. The consumer can therefore feel safe in the knowledge that all materials, production processes and packaging for Spaziale Splendy products are guaranteed to be non-harmful. The bathrobe comes into contact with the skin, which is particularly sensitive after a shower and it therefore must fulfil strict human ecological requirements in order to safeguard the health of the user. In addition to being original and unique and the fruit of extensive research into modern fibres and their performance, Spaziale Splendy is the only product of its kind on the market that carries this certification.

The presentation of the new fund-raising Telethon campaign early this month in preparation for the 17-19 December TV marathon - in the presence of the Telethon foundation chairman Luca Cordero di Montezemolo and Chamber of Deputies chief Gianfranco Fini – was an occasion to look back at a very successful 2010. The chairman explained that notwithstanding the economic crisis, the foundation has been able to donate over 30 million euros for research into genetic disorders.
From this year, G.I.L is among the important donor companies; the Milanese brand has created an entire line of ethical Telethon Spaziale Splendy products, a percentage of the sales of which will be added to the €24,000 already destined for the Telethon fund, to adopt a project for genetic disorders.
One the most important undertakings of Telethon is to create a special centre at the Children’s Hospital in Houston, Texas, dedicated to the study of childhood neurological diseases. The Beyond Batten Disease Foundation, founded by Craig & Charlotte Benson whose daughter was diagnosed with this grave genetic disorder, is committed to raising money for the centre, which has been built in partnership with the Telethon Institute of Genetics & Medicine in Naples and for which $2.5 million has been donated so far.
